I strive to paint beautiful memories of your beloved pets that will last a lifetime.
Watercolor Artist - David J. Rogers
Art has always played a major role in my life since early childhood. Have you ever asked a little kid what they want to be when they grow up? Chances are they’ll answer with “I want to be a fireman” or “I want to be a policeman” or “I want to be a football player”!! From the earliest time that I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be an artist. I can’t remember a time in my life that it wasn’t my primary focus. Although my life’s journey has had many twists and turns, this is the place I’ve always come back to. I am beyond blessed to be able to make a living being able to do and share what I love best for so many years. You’ve probably heard the old saying “Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” I can attest to the fact that it really is true because I live it every day.
The evolution of an artist is a long and winding road of creative exploration. For me that journey is never ending. Watercolor is my medium of choice. I am 100% self taught and always on a path of self-directed studies. I think it has served me well in that I don’t approach a painting with any preconceived notions on the process involved. I have developed a simple, vibrant, realistic style over the years and I simply do what comes naturally. Now I find that I am better able to express myself with a paintbrush than in any other way imaginable.
I began my professional career as an artist more than 25 years ago. At one point I was doing more than 40 art shows per year all over the state of California. When the internet came along, it provided the perfect venue for me to have my artwork seen by many more people from all over the world. I still do a few art shows every year as well as selling online and in galleries across the United States. I'm drawn to peaceful and serene places, and I believe that comes through in my paintings and has ultimately become the signature of my work. Since I live in the center of California I’m within a couple of hours of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable. Dramatic seascapes, beautiful vineyards, and majestic mountains are all within easy reach, so I’m never left waiting for inspiration.
Art’s only real value is the emotional connection it has with the viewer. I’m always striving to make that connection in the purest and most honest way that I know of. My goal as an artist is always the same, that my work will hopefully provide a peaceful escape for the soul of the viewer.
Thank you so much for spending time with me and my work!

All of our prints are specially handmade-to-order here at the David J Rogers Fine Art Gallery in Morro Bay, CA. We use a professional giclée printing process where the inks are 'sprayed' on layer-by-layer on to special fine art watercolor paper, very similar to the watercolor process. Each print is giclée printed from an original watercolor painting by David J Rogers, then hand-inspected and signed by the artist himself.
There is a risk of sun damage to your giclée print over long periods of time in direct sunlight. To prevent sun damage, please consider using a glass or acrylic with UV protection when framing. Additionally, matting our prints is preferred as it keeps it off the glass, further protecting the print over time. If you are interested, we do offer multiple in-house framing options at the David J Rogers Fine Art Gallery in Morro Bay, CA.
We currently only offer our custom artwork mugs in the standard 11oz. size. If you are interested in other sizing options, please check out our other products on Fine Art America.
Yes. All Dog Prints Gallery custom artwork mugs are totally dishwasher and microwave safe. No need to worry!
